About TeniSTA
History
Our club was founded on the 5th of december 1969 as a part of the then called Algemene Sportverening of the Vrije Universiteit (ASVU). The ASVU was founded in november 1945 and originated from the Commission to enhance the cultural and physical importances of the students at the VU (CoSCUVu).
This Commission was founded to promote the social gatherings between the students of the university. This is one of the most prominent founding ideas within our own club. We try to create a welcoming safe space for everyone looking for a new start in Amsterdam. To this day, TeniSTA is a subassociation of the VU sportcentre but is nowadays a fully independent sport society. The name TeniSTA derives from the Spanish word for tennis player as well as the abbrivation STA: Student Tennis Amsterdam.

General
SVU TeniSTA is a student tennis club in Amsterdam which is backed by the sportcentre of the Vrije Universiteit. We combine the sporty tennis with social activities to create a group of likeminded students and tennis buddy’s.
TeniSTA is situated at the park of ALTC de Aemstelburgh since september 2016, which is only 10 minutes away by bike from the Vrije Universiteit or student campus Uilenstede.
